The homologation process for vehicle modifications
The homologation process for vehicle modifications: the steps followed from modification to certification.
Automotive homologation is the process of certifying that vehicles, or a particular component, meet the requirements set by the statutory regulatory bodies. Approval from the competent authorities is mandatory for the modification or manufacture of a vehicle.
1. Preliminary development tests
On the prototypes we design, we carry out our preliminary development tests with our own test equipment and under the supervision of our specialist engineers, just as a vehicle manufacturer would.
2. Authorised technical service tests
After the preliminary tests, the technical units affected by the modification are tested together with technical services authorised by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, and the test reports are obtained.
3. Engineering documentation and TSE application
The engineering documentation (project file) for the modified vehicle is then prepared and an application for certification is submitted to TSE. All of these steps are carried out by our authorised in-house engineers.
For details, see our homologation and testing & certification pages.
